It's all about the wood!  Barn Wood and Antique Lumber are both names used to describe the materials used by Winslow Hill Woodworks.  The recovered and reused lumber was originally sawn from old growth forest trees harvested in the late 1800's.  Estimates place the age of the old growth forest trees between 200 and 300 years old.

Three types of wood are being recovered and reused.  They are Chestnut, Pine and Hemlock.  These three woods were the utility wood of the day.  Today, chestnut no longer grows to harvest size.  Pine and hemlock trees are now mostly harvested from managed forests.  The characteristic tight growth rings seen in old growth trees are not seen in the fast growing managed forest trees of today.
